Summary:
Our play cultures workshop looks at the current research on how autistic children and adults play and create an understanding of the world around them
Aim:
The focus of this workshop is to build participant knowledge and skills in understanding autistic play and how autistic play develops naturally
Duration:
- 3 hours including 5-10 min breaks every hour

Learning outcomes:
- What are the underpinning social and neurological factors that make autistic play different
- What does autistic play look like?
- How can we support autistic play in therapeutic settings
- Using play to help regulate the sensory system, support thinking and cognitive order, and understanding social scenarios
Prior Knowledge:
- An understanding of the neurodiversity paradigm
- An understanding of neuro-affirming practice
- A basic understanding of what autism is
