Program Summary
This full-day workshop explores autistic communication, connection, and sociality through a neuroaffirming lens. Participants will examine the many ways autistic people build relationships, share meaning, express care, and engage socially outside traditional social frameworks.
The workshop draws on current research, lived experience, and emerging frameworks of autistic social communication, including monotropism, sensory communication, object-oriented sociality, collaborative processing, and information-based connection.
Key Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
- Understand diverse autistic communication and connection styles.
- Explore sensory, cognitive, and relational aspects of autistic sociality.
- Recognise common misunderstandings within communication differences.
- Develop practical strategies to support authentic connection.
- Apply neuroaffirming approaches across education, therapy, workplace, and family settings.
