Program Summary
This lunchtime workshop explores Milton’s Double Empathy Problem and its implications for autistic communication, relationships, and support practices. Rather than viewing autistic communication through a deficit lens, the session reframes misunderstanding as a mutual mismatch in communication styles, expectations, and social experiences.
Participants will explore how autistic people seek and share connection, how communication differences are often misinterpreted, and how mutual understanding can reduce distress and improve relationships across education, therapy, workplace, and family settings.
