Summary:

This workshop looks at autistic teenagers and what happens during adolescence.

Aim:

  • To build an understanding of the neurological, emotional, physical, and social changes that are happening to autistic teens.
  • Provide support solutions

Duration:

  • 3 hours including 5-10 min breaks every hour

Dates & Times:

Learning outcomes:

  • How hormones and society impact on presentation
  • Is it a “milder” form of autism? Understanding how AFAB autistics, are misdiagnosed and misunderstood
  • Mental health in the autistic AFAB population
  • Discovering authenticity of self and the impact of longterm masking

Prior Knowledge:

  • An understanding of the neurodiversity paradigm
  • An understanding of neuro-affirming practice
  • A basic understanding of what autism is
