Program Summary
This workshop explores autistic play through a neuroaffirming and strengths-based lens. Drawing on current research and autistic lived experience, participants will examine how autistic play differs from traditional developmental models and how sensory interests, object exploration, imagination, repetition, and connection shape autistic play cultures.
The session challenges deficit-based interpretations of play and provides practical strategies for recognising, supporting, and engaging with authentic autistic play.

Participants will:

- Explore the relationship between sensory processing, monotropism, and play.
- Recognise social connection within autistic play cultures.
- Identify how autistic play supports regulation, learning, identity, and belonging.
